The striking Heritage Maglia Nera Jersey pays homage to the Maglia Nera, the jersey awarded to the GIRO s last place finisher between 1946 and 1951, and is a pleasure to wear, whether you're leading or trailing the pack.
Like being dubbed the Tour's Lanterne Rouge, receiving the Maglia Nera was considered a badge of honour, signalling that the wearer had fought to the finish and reached the end of three Odyssean weeks in the saddle. In fact, some cyclists deliberately wasted time to try and get their hands on it.
That being the case, the Heritage Maglia Nera Jersey is a rich affair, having been crafted in Italy from a luxurious mixture of 50/50 merino wool and polyester. It offers incredible moisture management when you're putting in the miles, while simultaneously feeling soft against your skin and offering a degree of stretch.
It looks special too, with its raised, textured black-on-black GIRO d'Italia logo and gold toned zipper, shaped like that never-ending spiral, the Trofeo Senza Fine. Three back pockets complete the pro rider look, while helping to make this indulgent jersey a practical garment to cycle all day in.
